4:00 5:30 pm: From Here to Eternity - Tour guided bgy Yvonne Price
In this five-week workshop we will create our own road maps, noting special points of interest, detours, construction zones, and speed bumps as we travel toward the inevitable dead end. We will explore some of the philosophical, religious, and practical issues surrounding the end of life, with the goal of organizing our thoughts and leaving instructions to the people we will leave behind. Bring a three-ring binder and paper, clear page protectors, and subject dividers. There will be some homework from time to time. Group is limited to ten people.
5:00 - 5:45 pm: The Sanctuary will be open for those wishing to sit in silence before dinner
5:45 - 6:30 pm: Community Dinner all ages together ( $9 per person for ages 10 and over, $3 per person for children under age 10. The maximum charge for a family is $20!)
6:40 - 7:00 pm: Vespers for all ages (described as “tapas for the soul” by one church member)
7:00 8:30: Choice of Classes (see below)
A.) On the Team: Conversations about how we will work as a team next year -
facilitated by Rev. Kate Rohde with Cheryll Wallace
You have heard a lot about the GTF (Governance Task Force) and how the Board will become a group that plans, develops policies, and evaluates. All the rest of us, staff and volunteers, will be a part of the “ministry team.” Committee chairs will become team leaders. Day to day decisions will be in the hands of the “ministry team.” How is this going to work? How will it change what each of us does? How do we balance “getting it done” with “accountability?” “How do
I implement my great idea?” Come for an open discussion of the changes and how we can be effective
and inclusive. Chairs and team leaders are especially encouraged to come but all who are interested in our congregation are welcome and encouraged.
B.) Are You Game for Games?
If you love to play board games and enjoy the company of friends old and new, this gathering is for you! A variety of board games and playing cards will be available for you to play on each of the 5 nights of the class. You can play the same game all 5 nights or mix and match and you can also attend one or all the sessions since the games begin anew each week.
C.) Personal Odysseys
Each Thursday evening in April, one or two members of our church community will speak about their life journey, the choices that they have made and what they have come
to believe. An informal time for asking questions of the speakers follows the each personal presentation. This experience promises to be a rewarding experience for each participant and for our church community as we learn together to appreciate, accept and understand our theological, intellectual, religious and spiritual diversity. Watch the weekly e-broadcast and order of service announcements beginning on March 18 to see who is scheduled to speak each week. Attend one or all of the odysseys, as you wish.
D.) Supervised Nursery play for children through Kindergarten age PLUS ART Activities for kids in First thru Sixth Grades.
